What is Suno?

Suno is a Text-to-Music — an AI tool that generates a full song from a text description. Unlike tools that generate only instrumental loops, Suno combines all the components together: Vocals (singing with real lyrics), Instruments,, chords, structure and a mix — all in a single audio file ready to share. You write one sentence, and the tool returns a two-to-three-minute song.

For those who create at high volume or want full commercial rights over the songs — there are paid plans with more credits and queue priority.

Downloading and formats

Once you're happy with the song, click the download menu. MP3 is the lightweight format for sharing on social media and WhatsApp, andWAV is the highest-quality format — choose it if you intend to edit the song in a DAW (audio-editing software) or mix it later. Note your plan's licensing terms regarding commercial use before you publish.

Simple vs Custom Mode

Suno has two modes, and the difference between them is the difference between "give me a song" and "give me exactly this song". Understanding the difference is the most important step in moving from a casual user to a serious creator.

Simple Mode

One description box. You write a sentence describing the song — style, mood and topic — and Suno does the rest: it writes the lyrics itself, chooses the musical style, and produces it. Excellent for quick experimentation, initial ideas, and for those who don't care about the exact lyrics.

Custom Mode

Here you get full control through three separate fields: Lyrics (the exact lyrics you write or paste), Style (the description of the musical style), andTitle (the song title). This is the mode where you determine exactly what the singer sings, in what structure, and with what sound. For any serious work — Custom Mode is the choice.

Styles & Style Prompts

The Style Prompt is the heart of the creation — it determines how the song will sound. The good formula for writing a style description is built from layers: genre + mood + instruments + vocal type + tempo/era. The more specific you are in each layer, the closer the result will be to your vision.

Writing lyrics and structure

In Custom Mode, Suno understands structure tags (meta-tags) that you place inside the Lyrics field. The tags tell the model how to divide the song — when to sing a verse, when a chorus, and when to switch to an instrumental section. This is the difference between a song that sounds random and one with a professional structure.

• [Chorus] — a chorus, the catchy, recurring part

To control instrumental sections, just leave a tag like [Instrumental] or [Guitar solo] with no lyrics beneath it — Suno will play there and not sing. This is how you create breaks, intros and solos exactly where you want.

Songs in other languages

V5 dramatically improved the ability to produce songs in less-common languages, but it's still an area that requires attention. Some languages are challenging for models — right-to-left scripts, no default vowel markings, and the pronunciation of certain sounds doesn't always come out accurate. With a few simple rules you'll get very good results.

Practical tips for lyrics in a non-English language

• Write phonetically clear lines — simple words and a clear sound work better than rare words
• Watch the RTL direction when pasting — sometimes the word order gets scrambled when pasting; check that the text is correct in the field
• Vowel marks are usually unnecessary — the tool manages without them; add them only if a specific word is pronounced wrong
• Check pronunciation and listen — always listen to the result and spot words that came out crooked
• Keep lines short — short lines allow a cleaner vocal delivery and less "swallowing" of words
